When We Serve God, We Find the Right Direction in Life
Occasion of Reflecting on this Hadith: 28th of Safar: The anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him)
Introduction
The teachings of the infallible Imams (peace be upon them) are all rays of a single light, guiding us towards a blessed life and showing us the path of servitude to God. This week, let us reflect together on one of the illuminating teachings of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him):
امام الحسن المحتبی (ع): مَنْ عَبَدَ اَللَّهَ عَبَّدَ اَللَّهُ لَهُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ (بحارالانوار، ج ۶۸، ص ۱۸۴)
Imam Hassan Mojtaba (as): Whoever worships God, God makes everything serve him.”

- Be With God and Be Free
Instead of depending on friends, fashion or social media, depend on God and let Him guide your path towards growth and happiness.
Practical Challenge: Spend one full day this week without your phone or social media, and use the time for prayer, reflection, reading or a meaningful activity.
- Be Free from Social Media and Others’ Opinions
Do not let likes, popularity or social media control your values, time or choices; seek God’s approval first.
Practical Challenge: Turn off unnecessary notifications for one day and do one good thing that you do not post or tell anyone about.
- Choose Friends Who Help You Grow
A person who serves God does not allow friendship or peer pressure to pull them towards harmful choices.
Practical challenge: Think about your three closest friends and ask yourself: “Do these friendships help me become a better person?” Then take one positive step to strengthen the healthiest friendship.
- Turn Your Talents into a Service
Your intelligence, skills and talents are gifts from God, and using them to help others gives your abilities a meaningful purpose.
Practical challenge: Use one of your skills this week – such as technology, sport, teaching, writing or organisation – to help another person without expecting anything in return.

- Do Your Duty and Trust God
Do your best to raise your children as a faithful parent, then trust God with what you cannot control.
Practical Challenge: This week, choose one worry about your child that you cannot control and turn it into a short prayer, then focus on one positive action you can actually take.

Real respect at home comes from fairness, kindness and honesty – not from shouting, excessive control or harsh rules.

- Praise Character More Than Status
When parents value honesty, kindness, responsibility and faith more than grades, money or popularity, children learn what deserves real importance.
Practical challenge: This week, praise your child specifically for one act of honesty, kindness, responsibility or self-control rather than for an achievement or possession.
- Make Service a Family Habit
Serving God also means serving His creation, so children should experience faith through practical kindness and responsibility.
Practical challenge: Choose one simple act of service that the whole family can do together this week, such as helping a neighbour, supporting someone in need or assisting an elderly relative.
