About the Book:
Fadak in History is a careful scholarly study of one of the most significant and sensitive episodes in early Islamic history: the dispute surrounding Fadak and its wider implications for justice, authority, and the place of the Prophet’s family. The English edition’s introduction describes it as the first major scholarly work of the martyred Imam Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr, and highlights his method as objective, disciplined, and based on close historical scrutiny rather than emotion or polemics.
About the Author:
Its author, Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr (1935–1980), was a leading Iraqi Shi‘a scholar from al-Kadhimiyya in Baghdad, from a distinguished family traced to the Prophet Muhammad. He became one of the most influential modern Shi‘a thinkers, and his life ended in martyrdom under Saddam Hussein’s regime; this book reflects the same seriousness, depth, and moral concern that marked his wider intellectual legacy.
