About the Author:

Shaheed Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei is a famous Shia Marja, cleric, scholar, and political figure whose writings and lectures have addressed Islamic thought, history, reasoning, wisdom, and society. Born in Mashhad in 1939, he became involved in religious and political activities before and during the Iranian Revolution of 1979. He served as President of Iran from 1981 to 1989 and subsequently became the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Alongside his political career, Shaheed Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei has written and spoken extensively and deeply on Islamic teachings and the history of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the Infallibles (pbut). The Two Hundred and Fifty Year Old Man reflects his particular reading of Islamic history, emphasising the interconnected political and social struggles of the Imams (pbut) and presenting their lives as part of a continuous historical mission.
