THE LIGHT THAT CAME TO THE HOUSE OF HASHIM

A story of Abdul Muttalib and the blessed birth

In the heart of Makkah, where the Kaaba stood like a witness of ancient prayers, lived a man whose dignity was known across Arabia, Abdul Muttalib, the chief of Quraysh and the keeper of the House of Allah. He was a man of deep intuition, a man whose heart leaned naturally towards the unseen. People would say that Allah had placed within him a wisdom that came before revelation.

One night, Abdul Muttalib saw a dream, clear as the desert moon, in which he was commanded to dig for Zamzam, the well that had been lost for centuries. When he uncovered its flowing water with nothing but faith and perseverance, the people of Makkah knew that this man was guided by a light beyond ordinary sight.

Yet a greater miracle was still hidden from him.

When his beloved son Abdullah married the noble Āmina bint Wahb, Abdul Muttalib felt a joy that settled deep into his heart. He sensed that from this blessed union, greatness would emerge. But destiny carried pain along with promise. When Abdullah passed away during a journey, Abdul Muttalib mourned him with the strength of a believer who knows that Allah’s plan is never without purpose.

Months later, on a night more serene than any before, a gentle knock came at his door. A message arrived, telling him that Amina had given birth to a son. Abdul Muttalib’s heart trembled. He rushed to the house and entered quietly, as though stepping into sacred space.

There, in Amina’s arms, lay a newborn child wrapped in light, his face peaceful, his gaze calm even as a baby. Amina whispered, “He came with ease. A voice told me to name him Muhammad, the praised one.”

A deep shiver ran through Abdul Muttalib. He lifted the infant with trembling hands. The moment he held him, he felt a weight of destiny settle upon his shoulders, a certainty that this child would change the world.

He carried the newborn to the Kaaba, pressed him gently against its sacred walls, and raised his hands. “O Lord,” he said softly, “I know this child is a trust from You. Protect him, guide him, and allow the nations to know his name.”

Thus began the story of Prophet Muhammad (s), the light of creation, born into the arms of a grandfather whose heart recognised him long before the world did.
