Departure of an Alim from this Material World

Office of the International Friday Bulletin mourns the sad demise of HIWM Maulana Sheikh Zafar Abbas Malik (RA) who passed away on 9th October 2025 in Pakistan

HIWM Malik Zafar Abbas (RA) was a renowned and devout Islamic scholar. He served the cause of preaching and teaching in England for over forty years. His services in Pakistan were also extensive. He was a student of HIWM Gulab Ali Shah, HIWM Safdar Hussain Najafi, and the late leader of the Shi‘a community in Pakistan, Allama Mufti Jafar Hussain (may Allah elevate their ranks). He was also among the longtime companions of the current leader of the Shia community in Pakistan, HIWM Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi.

The marhoom was not only an accomplished Alim but he also devoted his life to serving the wider community and it was his great status as a true visionary that led to the establishment of “Majlis Ulama-e- Shi‘a Europe.”  Indeed, he was instrumental in building many mosques and Imambargas in Britain and throughout Europe

His memory lives on in the hearts of Momineen. His tireless efforts led to the publication of many books, and he pioneered youth camps across UK was as well as media outlets. His legacy of service is greatly admired and has been the inspiration for many to follow.

HIWM Zafar Abbas (RA) played an exemplary and unforgettable role in resolving the religious disputes of Jhamat and Malahwali.

May the Almighty, for the sake of Muhammad and his holy family (peace be upon them), ease his journey in the hereafter.

May The Almighty Bless his soul and grant his family patience in this difficult time.

Momineen are requested to recite Surah Fatiha and Surah Yaseen.Bottom of Form

“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return.”

With deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences, we mourn the passing of the esteemed scholar, devoted servant of faith, and migrant to the Divine, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sheikh Zafar Abbas Malik (may Allah bless his soul). We extend our condolences to the global Islamic and Shi‘a community, especially to our brothers and sisters in Pakistan and to the Shi‘a community in the United Kingdom.

The late Sheikh was among the distinguished and influential figures in the field of propagating the luminous teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT). He devoted his honourable life to nurturing generations of faithful believers and spreading the divine message of the Qur’an and the Household of the Prophet (PBUH).

He was a pioneer in establishing religious institutions abroad, including founding the Majlis Ulama-e- Shi‘a Europe, serving as a distinguished member of the Supreme Council of Shi‘a Scholars in the UK, and establishing and teaching in several Islamic seminaries in both Pakistan and the United Kingdom – leaving behind a legacy of spiritual and scholarly impact that will endure for years to come.

After a lifetime of dedicated service to Islam and the seminaries and following a long period of illness endured with patience and faith, this noble scholar departed this transient world and returned to the mercy of his Lord.

Office of the International Friday Bulletin offers its sincere condolences to his honourable family – especially his distinguished children – to the respected scholars of the Shi‘a community in the UK, and to all believers. We beseech Almighty Allah to grant the late Sheikh Zafar Abbas Malik the highest stations in Paradise and to bestow upon his family and loved ones patience, strength, and abundant reward.
