About the Author:

Shaykh al-Ṭūsī (d. 460 AH / 1067 CE) was one of the most influential scholars in the history of Shi’a Islam. Born in Ṭūs, Iran, he later moved to Baghdad, where he studied under prominent scholars and eventually became the leading jurist and theologian of his time. He played a pivotal role in systematising Shi’a jurisprudence and theology, authoring foundational texts such as Al-Tahdhīb and Al-Istibsār, two of the Four Books of Shi’a Hadith. Shaykh al-Ṭūsī is also known for establishing the renowned seminary in Najaf, which remains a centre of Shi’a scholarship to this day. His legacy shaped the structure of Shi’a religious authority and continues to influence Islamic thought and practice centuries later.

The book answers these and many other questions, to explain the causes of occultation of Imam, reason of its prolongation, hurdles in reappearance and benefits of Imam’s existence.

The thing that makes this book different from the other books of “OCCULTATION” by Sheikh Saduq, Allama Majlisi and other writers, is that the present book contains many traditional reports not mentioned by Saduq and Allama Majlisi, especially regarding the imamate of Imam Musa Kazim (a.s) and refutation of Ismailism and other sects who diverged before the Twelfth Imam. In the words of Sheikh Tusi himself ” the aim of this book is to explain the causes of occultation of Imam, reason of its prolongation, hurdles in reappearance and benefits of Imam’s existence. One of the key features of this book is that the Arabic text is presented on one side of the page, with the English translation on the opposite side.
