Entrusting the Prophet Muhammad (s) to Halima al-Sa’diya

On this day, the infant Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was entrusted to Halima al-Sa’diya, a nurse from the Banu Sa’d tribe. This fostering arrangement, a customary Arab tradition, placed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in the care of a pure and simple desert environment, which was believed to foster resilience, eloquence, and strong character. Even as a child, his noble qualities, kindness, and remarkable demeanor left an indelible impression on those around him. Halima al-Sa’diya and her family experienced firsthand the blessings and barakah he brought into their lives, as their fortunes improved, and their home was filled with peace and prosperity. This period of the Prophet’s life reflects the profound impact he had on all who encountered him, even from the earliest days of his blessed existence.
